Laboratory Services does it again!

We passed our goal of $21,500 by raising $22,885 for this year’s United Way campaign.  Some of the fun events we held to raise money included: bake sales, popcorn sales, pizza lunches, and our raffle.

7th Annual University of Guelph United Way Hockey Marathon

This particular event is organized by Rich Moccia, past Associate Vice-President, research and a faculty member in the Department of Animal Biosciences, along with his son Scott. This event has helped raise over $21,000 for United Way since its inception 7 years ago. Participants of the hockey marathon come from both on-campus and off, and volunteer around Guelph with shelters, food banks and other agencies receiving United Way support. "It's basically indoor pond hockey, so no rules, no referees, no fighting, just lots of laughter and perhaps a little too much skating! We're all Canadians, we all love hockey, and we're raising money for a good cause," said Rich.

The money raised from all these United Way initiatives contribute towards the overall goal of the University of Guelph. This year’s goal was $600,000 and to date, the University of Guelph community has raised $632,000!
